Every rule and calculation comes from the published methodology, not a rule of thumb.

Eligibility rules are written from the published methodology texts. The section a rule comes from is shown next to every flag in your results.
Checked
Tested before every release
Calculations are checked against worked examples from the methodology spreadsheets before a change goes live, so the site gives the same answer as the spreadsheet.
Kept current
Rebuilt when methodologies change
When a standard publishes a new version, the rules are rebuilt from the new text. The biochar rules were last rebuilt in October 2026.
